The planned 4-30-19 trip has been cancelled on the recommendation of the FPF E-Board during a strategy conference call last Friday. Brothers and Sisters of the FPF 7th District, A quick heads up to all members that were interested in our second planned trip to Tally for the purpose of raising awareness for our Firefighter Cancer Coverage Bill.

The Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union is hosting an educational seminar for union officers and members on May 7th & 8th at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Novi.  The complete agenda is attached. The seminar will feature three general session topics as well as an opportunity to attend five of the 15 workshops that are being offered.

The 2019 MPFFU/MDA Boot Camp was held April 18th at The View inside Lansing Lugnuts Cooley Law School Stadium. 37 locals were represented by over 57 MPFFU members who gave up thier time to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the partnership between the IAFF and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Metro Dade Firefighters Local 1403 regrets to announce the passing of Retired FF Willam Edgman on 4/15/19. Bill was hired in 7/26/1976. Most of you know him from Station 35 where he served proudly. He was 73 years old. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.

04/21/19 - Norwalk Professional Firefighters
At 9:57 AM, Norwalk Professional Firefighters were called to reports of a structure fire at a multi-family residence located at 18 Soundview Avenue.  Upon arrival crews found heavy fire on the third floor.  Due to high heat, the first due engine had difficulty stretching the first line.  Eventually two lines were stretched and operated.
Engineer Jim Brown retires from NFD

Engineer Jim Brown retired from the Noblesville Fire Department on April 17th.  Brother Brown is a 26 year veteran of the department and retired at Engine 76-A.  Congratulations to Jim and his wife as they plan for a joint retriement celebration this summer.
Cherry Creek Brush Fire
04/19/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 1:58 p.m. on Friday April 19th, Local members responded to multiple 911 reports of a vegetation fire along the Cherry Creek Trail just north of Broncos Parkway. First arriving Brush 42 found a 50’ x 100’ grass fire burning between the creek and the bike path behind Courtney Downs Apartments and began a direct attack.

This fund helps our fallen Brothers and Sisters families when they make the ultimate sacrifice in the Line Of Duty. This is a public event and 35% of winnings go to the 4F Fund. Doors open at 11 a.m. & gambling is from noon until 1 a.m.
Rockbridge Structure Involved MVA

On Monday April 15th, Local members were dispatched to a vehicle into a building.  Members arrived on scene and found on vehicle into the building.  Members from the technical rescue team stabalized the structure.  The incident remains under investigation. https://www.southmetro.

The Richard Garner Memorial Committee has selected the two scholarship recipients for the 2019-2020 school year.  The process consisted of an application, oral board interview, and review of letters of reference, academic performance, and community service/outreach involvement.  After the process was completed, we have selected Wyatt Bomkamp and Andrew Eyler.

HELENA- The Firefighter Health and Safety Bill passed another hurdle Monday afternoon. Senate Bill 160 passed the third reading in the House with a vote of 89 to 9. Great Falls International Association of Fire Fighters Local Eight President Dave Van Son said they are very excited. “This is the furthest it has ever made,” Van Son said.

Birch Way Structure Fire

Just before 2 p.m. on April 11th, Local members responded to a working residential fire on S. Birch Way in Centennial. When members arrived on scene they found smoke coming out of the house and a fire in the kitchen. Members were able to knock down the fire, but discovered it had extended into the attic.

Malden Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Central Fire Station

The well-attended ceremony was presided over by Assistant Chief Bill Sullivan with remarks offered by Fire Chief Kevin Finn, Commissioner Emery Haskell and City Council President Jadeane Sica.

At 08:00 on April 8th, 2019 Local 2086 members responded to a reported MVA on E. Orchard Rd. at the intersection of S. Biscay St. MetCom advised responding units that the incident involved a rollover. Members arrived on scene and found two vehicles involved in the crash.  One vehicle was on its right side in the middle of the intersection.
